When we thought about moving to Germany last year, I found a company that specialized in helping people buying, selling and renting overseas property. I figured that if we could not find something to buy right away, then we could at least find a rental for the first year that we were there.
The reason for the relocation was my husband’s job. His company was opening a new factory in Germany and they wanted him to oversee the construction of the building. They knew that it would take at least eighteen months to complete the overseas project and that was if everything went according to plan without any interruptions. My husband was also offered a position at the new building if he wanted to stay on after the construction. The position came with a huge raise, more responsibilities and a title that he had always wanted.
I contacted the overseas property website and explained the situation of us needing to be in Germany for at least eighteen months but possibly longer if we decided to stay. I was helped by a nice lady that helped me to locate three different rentals and finally sign a two year lease for one of them.
That was a little over a year ago and we have since moved out of the rental and purchased a home near my husband’s soon to be new factory. The overseas property company helped us to sell our home back in the states after we decided to stay.
